How accessible is HellerIO?
HellerIO is a personal finance planning app built to be usable by everyone — not just people without impairments. This page honestly describes what we support today and what is still being worked on.
What we support today
- Dark Mode: The app follows the system setting automatically. You can enable dark mode on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device under Settings → Display — HellerIO picks it up without any extra steps.
- Contrast (WCAG AA): Text and background colours meet a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
- Reduced motion: The app respects the "Reduce Motion" system setting and suppresses non-essential animations.
What is still in progress
The following improvements are planned but not yet fully implemented:
- Larger text: Dynamic type sizes (iOS Dynamic Type / Android Text Scaling) are not yet fully supported across all areas of the app.
- VoiceOver / TalkBack: The app is not yet fully optimised for screen readers such as VoiceOver (iOS) or TalkBack (Android).
- Not colour alone: Some information is currently conveyed using colour only. We are working on also using symbols or text labels alongside colour.
How to enable accessibility features on iOS
Most accessibility features are available directly in iPhone and iPad Settings:
- Dark Mode: Settings → Display & Brightness → Dark
- Text size: Settings → Display & Brightness → Text Size
- Bold text: Settings → Display & Brightness → Bold Text
- Reduce Motion: Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Reduce Motion
- VoiceOver: Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver
- Increase Contrast: Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Increase Contrast
