See whether next month's weekend trip fits your plan before you book. HellerIO shows what's “Likely left over” after your planned income and expenses. Version 1.2 brings a view from your wrist, clearer warnings for tight months, Mac and Windows apps, a web app, Excel/CSV import, keyboard controls, adjustable text size, more languages and new purchase options with lower Premium prices.
Let's follow Lena, a fictional nurse, as an example. She's on the train home after her shift, thinking about a weekend trip in November.
1. Check next month from your watch
On Apple Watch and Wear OS, you can see the month, “Likely left over” and a status. Tap “Next month” to look ahead. A complication or tile also gives you a quick way to check.
On iPhone, look for the “HellerIO on your Apple Watch” card in HellerIO's settings. Install HellerIO through the Watch app on your iPhone under “Available Apps”. On Android, use the Play Store on your watch. Lite or Premium shows your own plan; without either purchase, the watch shows an example.
On the train, Lena sees that October has €1,235 likely left over, with the status “On track”. She taps “Next month”.
To keep amounts out of view while you're out, go to Settings → “Privacy & Data” → “Hide amounts in widgets”. Widgets and your watch will then show only whether the month is on track.
2. Spot a tight month before you book
For November, Lena's watch shows −€120 and “€120 short”. The weekend trip doesn't fit her plan as it stands. She sees this before booking and can postpone the trip or adjust an expense. “This month” takes her back on the watch.
The monthly card and watch make tight months clearer: less than €200 left over means the status is “Tight”. If money is missing, the shortfall is stated directly, as in “€120 short”. Open the monthly view in the app to review the month and adjust your plan.
Amounts are clearer, too: no more “−€0.00”, savings amounts appear without a sign, and budgets are marked with “≈”.
3. Adjust your plan on a bigger screen
At home, Lena prefers to work through her plan on a bigger screen. HellerIO is now also available for Mac from the Mac App Store and for Windows from the Microsoft Store. The web app at app.hellerio.de is new, too.
The web app is part of Premium and requires sync: you connect your browser to the app on your phone. Choose “Connect with the app” in the browser. Then, on your phone, go to Settings → “Sync” → “Add another device” → “Connect browser” and scan the QR code shown in the browser.
In the browser, you can view your month, year and savings goals, and create and edit entries. Lena can work through her November plan there. Reminders, widgets, and photo and voice entry remain in the apps.
When using someone else's computer, open the browser settings and choose “This browser” → “Shared computer”. HellerIO will then sign you out automatically after 15 minutes without input.
You can use your keyboard, too: on Mac, Windows and in the browser, “?” or F1 displays all keyboard shortcuts. Use ← and → to switch months. Create an entry with ⌘N on Mac, Ctrl+N on Windows or Alt+N in the browser.
4. Bring your Excel spreadsheet or list with you
If you already keep a household list, you don't have to type everything again. On Mac, Windows and in the browser, go to Settings → “Data & Backup” → “Import from Excel or CSV”. You can import income, fixed expenses, budgets and savings contributions. Import isn't available on iPhone, iPad or Android.
- Open a file: Use “Choose file” to select an .xlsx or .csv file.
- Map the columns: Identify the name and amount columns, with optional details such as frequency, due date or category.
- Check the entries: In “Review and import”, review each row, edit it or leave it out. Duplicate entries are marked. Then import the entries.
Lena could use this to bring over her old household list. If something isn't right, “Undo import” lets you reverse the import.
5. Set a comfortable text size and language
To make your plan easier to read, adjust text size from 85 to 150%, alongside your device's text size setting. This is available in the free version, too, and applies only to that device.
Under Settings → “Appearance” → “Text size”, choose “Smaller” or “Larger”, or use “Reset to default” when needed. Lena's mother could use larger text to read her own plan.
Under Settings → “Appearance” → “Language”, you can now choose Spanish, French, Italian or Portuguese (Brazil), as well as German and English. Lena's Spanish-speaking housemate can plan in the language he feels comfortable using.
6. Pay once for Lite or get Premium for less
For more planning options without a subscription, HellerIO Lite costs €14.99 once and permanently unlocks:
- More years: plan from last year to five years ahead; Free covers this year and next year.
- Custom categories: with names and icons.
- Unlimited savings goals and repayments: Free includes three savings goals and one repayment in the Debt Cockpit.
- Reminders: at a time you choose.
- Monthly figures: in the widget and as your own plan on Apple Watch or Wear OS.
Find the options under Settings → “Account & Premium” → “HellerIO Premium”. Choose Lite or Premium; use “Restore purchases” for an existing purchase. Lite is enough for Lena to see her own figures on her watch. To adjust her plan in the browser as well, she needs Premium.
- Premium only: cloud sync, the web app in your browser and 60 photo/voice entries per month. Free and Lite include five entries to try.
- New lower prices: Premium costs €0.99 per month instead of €1.99, €7.99 per year instead of €12.99, or €21.99 once instead of €39.99.
- A new way to try it: monthly and annual subscriptions now include a free seven-day trial.
